Competition news

12 Hole Academy Course Competition

Last Sunday we held a 12 hole competition to allow members an opportunity to play our Junior 12 hole Academy Course. The short par 3 course is designed to give our juniors an opportunity to get out onto the golf course, but the challenging course layout tested our member's accuracy playing 12 par 3 holes consecutively, some of which were over 175 yards. The results were as follows:

First place - Christopher Strickland, Christine Gee and Mike Gee - 58 points (£14).
Second place - Mike Magrath, Gill Magrath and Bill McCollum - 54 points (£7).
Third place - Grant Rogers, Simon Elliot and Roy Elliott - 52 points (£4).

All prize monies have been put onto your accounts in the professional shop. A big thanks to our members who supported the event as part of the entries go towards funding our excellent junior section.

Under ArmourUpdate your tired wardrobe with our Under Armour Clothing

Under Armour is a leading clothing company of branded performance apparel, footwear, and accessories. The brand's moisture-wicking fabrications are engineered in many different designs and styles for wear in nearly every climate to provide a performance alternative to traditional products. The company's products are sold worldwide and worn by athletes at all levels, from youth to professional, on playing fields around the globe.

Jordan Spieth, ranked Golf World No1, is one of the many tour players wearing Under Armour sportswear. Alongside him are a number of top ranked players such as Hunter Mahan, Matthew Fitzpatrick and Gary Woodland. All these golfers play in numerous different weather conditions and therefore it's good to have a wardrobe to suit all climates.

Loft and Lie Service

LieOne of the most important, however, overlooked aspects of your golf clubs is the lie angle. There are many different degrees of lie angle but the aim is to have the sole of your club sitting flat to the ground at impact when hitting the ball. Here are the three common expressions for club lie angle and what effects it has on the golf ball.

  • Standard - Ball flies on target
  • Upright - Ball will fly LEFT of target
  • Flat - Ball will fly RIGHT if target

The lie angle has a direct influence on direction and accuracy so if your clubs aren't custom fitted correctly your golf could be heavily affected.

Loft and Lie Check up - £25. Please speak to a member of staff for more information on this service or call 01749 679059

New stock arrivals...

During previous weeks the professional shop has started to fill up with new stock arriving, therefore you have more variety and choice before making your purchase. The shop is split into sections so all customers can browse with ease and find exactly what they are looking for. The new stock arrivals include a large selection of golf bags, clothing and putters and other hardware. The majority of customers who have visited the professional shop will understand that we are limited to space, however finding the right colour, size and model in such a small shop will no longer be an issue with the help of our customer service.

We look forward to seeing you all visit soon.
