Avalon Team News
The Avalon team opened their season away at Cricket St Thomas on Sunday, 13 March gaining a good away halve. With last year's star pairing of Mike Metcalfe and Malcolm Terry away in Portugal I would like to thank the father and son pairing of Alan and Sam Todd for helping out. They fought out a tight half with their opponents finding the greens more to their liking. Next out Simon Jackson and Pete Walker found the going tough and succumbed to a 2&1 loss. Pascal Norman and James Church found themselves 2 down after 3, but fought back with Churchy chipping in for par and Paz finding a couple of birdies to win 3&1. Mark Western and Ian Burr played out an up and down game. 2 up after 3, 2 down after 7 but coming strong again on the back nine winning 2&1. John Baker and Colin (The Rocket) Mantle didn't have the best of days losing 6&4. Thank you Mark for standing in and doing a great job as Captain. Next game is at home on Saturday, 2 April to Long Sutton.

Portugal Coaching Trip
On behalf of myself and James we would like to thank everyone that came to Portugal and made it an excellent week. There was some brilliant golf played over the seven days, with excellent weather conditions and great company. We spent each morning coaching on the driving range and short game areas with a mixture of range sessions and short game tests such as par 18. After the morning practice we then played in the afternoon over the three courses, we played a mixture of individual events and also a two day team event which my red team happened to win! After the golf everyone then turned they're hand to showing their skills around the buffet, especially myself and James. The evenings were just as fun as the golf with great company at dinner and in the bar afterwards.
I had a huge demand for the trip that has just passed when organising it last October and many people were unable to come due to limited numbers. I am therefore looking at potentially arranging a five day trip in September/October to Portugal and again our now annual larger trip for seven days next March. If you would be interested in either trip please feel free to contact me here or drop into the shop.

Motocaddy make Lithium more affordable!
After great success with Lithium batteries, Motocaddy have decided to push lithium sales and make lithium powered trollies more affordable. The UK's top selling trolley brand have reduced the recommended retail price of lithium trolleys so that the difference between a standard lead acid battery trolley and a lithium is less of a jump. An ordinary upgrade to lithium batteries used to be £150, however this year Motocaddy have dropped this down to only £100!
Why change to Lithium?
Lithium batteries have proven to become more reliable and cost-effective than a Lead-acid battery. An integrated Battery Management System protects the Lithium and helps to provide a five-times-longer lifespan than Lead-acid batteries. The lightweight batteries are designed to remain on the trolley and their flat design makes it easier to transport without having to remove the battery from the trolley. Lithium batteries from empty only take five hours to recharge and not only that, Motocaddy offer a five year limited warranty.
