Double victories for Wells in the Somerset County Championships
Last Sunday, 15 May the Somerset County Championships were held at Weston-Super-Mare Golf Club. The 36 hole event took place in windy but dry conditions with 80 entries all with a handicap of six or lower. Wells Golf Club players came out on top in both the gross and nett events.
Long term member and past Club Champion Phil White picked up his first County Championship posting a score of 142 (69 and 73) in testing conditions. Phil had always been been very close to victory in this event having had four top five finishes in the last five years and after his great contribution to Somerset Golf Union over the years, it's great to see him finally County Champion. I was fortunate enough to caddy for both rounds for Phil on Sunday and to see the hard work he has put in, not only this winter, but over the last few years, it's great to see success.
Charlie Lewis who re-joined the club last year, played in his first County Championship. The five handicapper put together two great rounds together, shooting 72 and 74 and winning the best nett competition with (-4). He was the only player to break his handicap in both rounds. Very well done Charlie and good luck with your Charity Day next Friday. If anyone is interested in entering his Kidney's for Life Charity Day at Wells next Friday please contact the professional shop.

Custom fitting for putters with our new iPING Fitting System
The iPING app analyses and displays your consistency on a screen using three main factors:
Stroke type (determined by how much the putter face rotates during the forward stroke).
Impact angle (the putter's face angle at impact, relative to address).
Tempo (a measure of the duration of the backswing relative to the forward swing).
The app works by computing consistency over a series of five putts where your stroke type, impact angle and tempo are measured, displayed and stored for every putt in that session. The iPING Fit feature matches you with the PING putter models that fit your stroke type. Matching your putter to your stroke type is the key to greater consistency and lower scores.
How does it work?
The first step is to hit a series of five putts. After the session, the app displays a shaft label color-coded by stroke type: blue for straight strokes, green for slight arcs, and red for strong arcs. Once you know your stroke type and corresponding shaft label, tapping the "Recommend Putter" tab brings up a list of every current PING putter model that matches your stroke type. You simply scroll through the list to find the models that appeal to you.
This week's offer, buy a PING putter and receive a FREE PING glove. If you would like to be custom fitted to a PING putter using this service then please contact our professional shop on 01749 679059 or click here to send us an email.
Motocaddy make Lithium more affordable!
After great success with Lithium batteries, Motocaddy have decided to push Lithium sales and make Lithium powered trolleys more affordable. The UK's top selling trolley brand have reduced the recommended retail price of Lithium trolleys so that the difference between a standard Lead Acid battery trolley and a Lithium is less of a jump. An ordinary upgrade to Lithium batteries used to be £150, however, this year Motocaddy have dropped this down to only £100!
Why change to Lithium?
Lithium Batteries have proven to become more reliable and cost-effective than a Lead Acid battery. An integrated Battery Management System protects the Lithium and helps to provide a five-times-longer lifespan than Lead Acid batteries. The lightweight batteries are designed to remain on the trolley and their flat design makes it easier to transport without having to remove the battery from the trolley. Lithium batteries from empty only take five hours to recharge and not only that, Motocaddy offer a five year limited warranty.
Complete Equipment Solution
Throughout May and June, we will be running our Complete Equipment Solution. This gives you the opportunity to have a FREE fitting and a FREE after-sales lesson with one of our PGA Professionals here at Wells.
The purpose of running this offer is two-fold:
Firstly we want you, our customers, to experience the benefits of a custom fitting, and how much it can improve your game. For example even in the last few weeks we have had customers gaining over 20 yards in distance, and reducing the dispersion of each shot, just through using the right club, shaft combination as a result of a custom fitting.
Secondly, we want to give back to you to thank you for your continued custom. The after-sales lesson will hopefully help you settle into your new clubs, so you can hit the ground running from your first round.
We are running this offer in conjunction with Callaway, TaylorMade, PING and Mizuno, so why not click the links or the video below to find out more.
