Charlie's Charity Golf Day - Friday, 27 May
Wells Golf Club accommodated a new charity event this year run by one of its young members, Charlie Lewis. Last summer at the age of 21, Charlie was diagnosed with stage four Chronic Kidney Disease and this has left Charlie with 18% kidney function. The disease will always be a part of Charlie's life so Charlie and his brother Sam Lewis decided to make good of the situation by organising a charity day. The charity Kidneys for Life raises money to help and support people suffering with a similar kidney condition.
The format was a Threeball Bowmaker with the entry fee of £60 a team including:
18 holes of golf
FREE range token
Bacon roll and tea/coffee
Choice of a meal from the specials board
Prizes for longest drive and nearest the pin
The top three teams scores received amazing prizes supplied by TaylorMade. The top three winning teams were as follows:
First place - Chris Jones, Carl Rudikov and Arron Norris (87 points), second place - Steve Watley, Guy Beneworth and Dan Webb (87 points, countback) and in third place - Steve Clark, Rich Birch and Phil Leonard (86 points).
The charity event had a huge entry of 33 teams (99 players) at Wells Golf Club. The event was a huge success and Charlie is very grateful for everyone who supported his hard work organising the event. A big thanks to the players, sponsors, friends, family and everyone at Wells Golf Club. Charlie is extremely happy to announce that the event managed to raise a whopping £2,042 for Kidneys for Life! Let's try and make 'Charlie's Charity Golf Day' even bigger and better in 2017.
Spaces for Pro's Day are filling up!
The Professional's Day in June is quickly filling up with well over 70 entries already. The day is a must enter with prizes to be won on every hole and outstanding prizes provided by Callaway Golf. Titleist golf balls come out on top once again…
Last weekend saw both the BMW PGA Championship (European Tour) and the Dean & Deluca Invitational (PGA Tour) take place. It was an excellent weekend for the Titleist Pro V1x with Chris Wood winning the European Tour's flagship event which has moved him up into the top 25 in the official world golf rankings. Jordan Spieth was also victorious on the PGA Tour using the Pro V1x. It was great to see Chris play some outstanding golf down the stretch, while Jordan looks to be regaining his major winning form. The next event on the European Tour is the Nordea Masters in Sweden and the PGA Tour visits Muirfield Village for Jack Nicklaus' Tournament, The Memorial.
