Juniors Competition
On Sunday, 5 June, a total of eight junior golf teams from across the county ascended on Wells Golf Club to play in the Somerset Junior Golf League Jamboree. The teams consisted of four juniors, playing in a stableford competition, with the top three scores counting towards the final score. The weather and course conditions were both perfect. The Wells team included Tom Roberts (Captain), Ashton Wylie, Atley Stacey-Day and Freddie Lovell, took advantage of playing on their home course and came within one point of the winners Burnham and Berrow. A special mention must go to Tom Roberts who scored a total of 41 points, and finished joint top in the 32 players who entered. A fantastic result by the team!
Avalon Team News - Tall Pines vs. Wells - Sunday, 5 June
Great weather with the sun shining and ground conditions harder than usual gave the Avalon team a real test of golf. Wells found themselves up against it with players out injured or not available. Unfortunately Wells struggled losing 4 ½ - 1 ½.
Mike Metcalfe and Malcolm Terry, after both been cut a shot since the last match, still managed to come in with a 3&1 win. Jason Huck and Mark Western on the front nine showing some of the old form managing to get two up at one point, unfortunately ended up losing 3&2. Simon Jackson and Pete Walker fought out a tight game coming in with an excellent half. John Baker and Colin Mantle found the conditions difficult losing 5&4 and debutant Phil Spring and Bob Lench, both never having played the course in the past, unfortunately found themselves at the end of a 2 &1 loss.
With the next two games at home, Wells need to use home advantage and claw back some points.

Custom fitting for putters with our new iPING Fitting System
The iPING app analyses and displays your consistency on a screen using three main factors:
Stroke type (determined by how much the putter face rotates during the forward stroke).
Impact angle (the putter's face angle at impact, relative to address).
Tempo (a measure of the duration of the backswing relative to the forward swing).
The app works by computing consistency over a series of five putts where your stroke type, impact angle and tempo are measured, displayed and stored for every putt in that session. The iPING Fit feature matches you with the PING putter models that fits your stroke type. Matching your putter to your stroke type is the key to greater consistency and lower scores.
How does it work?
The first step is to hit a series of five putts. After the session, the app displays a shaft label color-coded by stroke type: blue for straight strokes, green for slight arcs and red for strong arcs. Once you know your stroke type and corresponding shaft label, tapping the "Recommend Putter" tab brings up a list of every current PING putter model that matches your stroke type. You simply scroll through the list to find the models that appeal to you.
If you would like to be custom fitted to a PING putter using this service then please contact our professional shop on 01749 679059 or click here to send us an email.
