Club ChampsWells Club Championship - Saturday, 16 July - Sunday, 17 July

This year's Club Championships was accompanied with some superb weather for the two day 36 hole event. The weather leading up to the event helped our greenkeepers produce a challenging course with fantastic quick greens reaching up to 11 on the stimp metre. As the majority of members know, the course condition for the Club Championship is designed to test the competitor's ability, changing pin positions each day and making the greens quicker.

This year's winner of the Men's Club Championship was Alan Todd, who had a score of 71 + 76 = 147 (Gross) for the two rounds followed by runner up Charlie Lewis who scored 84 + 76 = 160 (Gross). The winner of this year's Hawksgill Trophy (Men's best nett for the two days) was Steve Clark with the best nett score of 74 + 72 = 146 (Nett).

Winner of the Ladies Club Championships was Glynis Slater who had a score of 90 + 91 = 181 (Gross) and the runner up was Phillippa Gowen with a score of 89 + 99 = 188 (Gross) just ahead of Kim Lord who totaled 193 for the two days. Similar to the men the ladies have a main Nett competition for the two days and this was won by Chris Gee with a nett score of 156 for the two days. Following Chris Gee, Janice White picked up the bronze prize with a 158 nett for the two days.

A big thank you and complements to the green staff who did a fantastic job presenting the course in excellent condition and to all the volunteers and organisers for running this great event.
