Seniors' Captain's Day
Wells Golf Club Seniors Captain's Day, hosted by Dave Hayward, was a bowmaker and an individual stableford. The winners; Alan Elkins, Tony Duffin and Colin Wilde amassed an amazing 95 points, way ahead of second placed Peter Ramsay, Vic Rossiter and Len Sweales with 87 points.
Not surprisingly, the individual winners came from the winning team. Tony Duffin, winner of the Captain's Salver, had 48 points and Colin Wilde, runner-up, had 41. Jack Baillie was third with 39 points. Pictured is Dave Hayward presenting the Captain's Salver to Tony Duffin on Senior Captain's Day.

A huge thank you to all the who took part the Seniors' Captain's event and donated so generously in the raffles which will go to Heads Up Charity.
Wells' Seniors vs. Filton
Wells' Senior men visited Filton where they lost 2/5. They fared better at home against Sherborne, winning with a comfortable 4 - 2 victory, but this was over-shadowed by a hole-in-one on the 5th by John Howes of Sherborne. Good fun and good competitive golf was enjoyed by all.
Ladies Alliance Team
The Ladies Alliance team gained a full 11 points from their match versus Shirehampton with wins from Sue Wells, Kim Lord, Jill Bocquet, Erica Klim and Sandy Heath.

Wells Stragglers
On Sunday, 24 July the Wells Stragglers travelled to Tall Pines. It was a new course to some players, and this combined with intermittent rain proved challenging. Steve Porter and Gary Leigh played a steady game and triumphed 3&2. Bill Levell and Andrew Botswain found the opposition a bit of a handful and lost 5&3. John Baker and Philip Kenworthy had a very tight game with never more than one in it, finally losing on the 18th hole. Terry Searle and Colin Wilde had better luck and sealed a fine win 4&3 and Mike McKay and Pete Michel were five down after six, but found some form to stage a mini-fightback before finally losing 4&2. The overall result was 3-2 to Tall Pines at the half-way stage. The second half at Wells will be played in two weeks time.

Loft and Lie Check
If you haven't been custom fitted before and you feel your clubs are effecting your performance, why not let us loft and lie your clubs? Checking the lofts on each club is very important as there needs to be an equal distance gap between all your clubs. If you are hitting your 5-iron higher and shorter than your 6-iron, then now is the time to bring your clubs into us. Checking your lie angle is also important because an incorrect lie angle will promote more offline golf shots. For example if the lie is too upright the ball can fly left and too flat will cause the ball to fly right.
The professional shop has specialist loft and lie machine to check and adjust the clubs and this service only costs £25. Click here to get in touch for more details.
