Cowern Trophy
The prestigious Cowern Trophy was won in fine style by Hazel Carmichael and Andy Williams with a nett 71. The annual event is drawn with everyone in with a chance of glory. The wind played its part in sending balls off the fairway, but with the greens in superb condition, the short game was a joy to watch. In second place was Polly Williams with Philip Slater, so some celebration in the Williams' household.
Wells Seniors vs. West Wilts
Wells Seniors hosted West Wilts and had a great day. Tony Harrison and Ian Mills won their match 2&1. Peter Leverick had an eagle on the par 5 8th which lead to a win 4&3 with his partner Mike Gee. John Moxon, who stepped in at the last moment, and his partner Glyn Hallett won on the last hole and Nick Wilson played very well winning 4&2 with his partner Piers Dalby meaning that Wells won convincingly 6 - 0.
Wells Seniors vs. Worlebury
Worlebury Seniors visited Wells this week and after the halved match at Worlebury earlier in the season, there was all to play for. Mike Gee and Geoff Ead came in easy winners 4&2, as did Seniors' Captain Dave Hayward and Ken Ford (4&3). Colin Mantle and George White won 3&2, helped by George getting a birdie on the first hole. Unusually there were three matches halved. Bill O'Callaghan and David Gibbon, were four down after four, but rescued the situation to lead at one point, but had to settle for a half. Wells won the match 5.5 to 1.5.
Golf Coaching Trip March 2017
After organising two previous golf coaching trips in the last two years, I am again looking to book a trip for March 2017. I'm currently waiting on flights to be released, but to ensure I can book the flights as soon possible if you'd be interested please click here to get in touch.
The trip will include a week's half board accommodation (twin sharing), unlimited coaching, flights from Bristol including golf bag luggage, return transfer from Faro airport to the resort and unlimited golf at the resort. Spaces will be limited to 20 including James Keitch and myself, which means we can have our own 10 person team Ryder Cup event during the week. I'm unfortunately unable to provide an exact price at this moment due to not knowing the flight times and the poor exchange rates, but I estimate it will be between £775 and £850.
Please reply as soon as possible to ensure your space will be reserved.

The groups are limited to 10 juniors per group and places are given on a first come first serve basis. Can you please confirm your child's participation and return payment to the professional shop by Saturday, 10 September. The listed lesson dates will be handed out on the day so you will have hard copy. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us here or by calling the professional shop.
Callaway cleans up on Golf's Major Tours last week...
Last week Callaway Golf Tour Professionals made a fantastic impression on all of golf's major tour events. Thomas Pieters won on the European Tour event winning the Made in Denmark Tournament, and Patrick Reed won the Barclays Tournament on the PGA Tour. Both these players had not yet qualified for their respective Ryder Cup teams through the rankings, however last week's performance put Thomas Pieters into the European team via a Captain's pick by Dareen Clarke. Patrick Reed also squeezed into the team in the last week of qualification due to a great performance securing his spot.
To see the fantastic range of Callaway equipment used by these players, you can visit our professional shop where we have a complete range of Callaway products and fitting equipment. There is a selection of both woods and irons and on-hand expert advice by our team of PGA Professionals.
