Wells Golf Club Open 4BBB
Wells Golf Club hosted this year's Open 4BBB with unfortunate damp weather glooming for most of the day. However, this didn't dampen the spirits of all the competitors who had traveled a fair distance to play our course. There was a fantastic turn out to the event and a great amount of support from all sections of the golf club. The results for the event are as followed:
First visitor team - Kevin Costigan and Victor Lissenberg (Sherborne) - 44 points. First home team - Geoff Dyer and Alan Obern - 42 points. Second team - Paul Lewer (Wells) and Mark Lewer (Farrington) - 42 points, third team - Gill Magrath and Mike Magrath - 41 points, fourth team - Martin Barnes and Colin Mantle - 40 points, fifth team - Ken Mitchell (Wells) and Rob Millard - 40 points and the sixth team - Bob Sampson and Steve Porter - 39 points.
Nearest the Pin - 5th hole - Paul Lewer, 7th hole - Michael Cundill, 10th hole - Geoff Dyer and on the 17th hole - Alan Obern.
For the players who were in the prizes your prize vouchers will either be on your accounts or for away players, this will be sent to your club. Players who scored a two have received two sleeves of balls, these can be picked up in the professional shop.
Wells Juniors
Ben Roberts and Ashton Wylie won the Harry Parkes Cup with an amazing 45 points. The fourball betterball stableford format gave the juniors the chance to play their own game well. Ed Higgs and Tom Roberts came in second just one point behind on 44 points.
September Seniors' Medal
There was a terrific turn out of players for the final Seniors' Medal of the year. The conditions were interesting with warmth, gentle winds and reasonably firm fairways and though the rough was penal. It was good to see some new entrants to the competition. Colin Webber scored a nett 69 coming third. Glen Crocker had a better back nine, so his nett 69 gave him second place, and the winner was Bill McCollum with an excellent nett 66.
Ladies Autumn Meeting
The Ladies Autumn Meeting was a three ball bowmaker, played in glorious sunshine. The winning team of Gill Magrath, Phyllis Lewison and Tina Davies came in with a better back nine (38 points) to put Sue Wells, Margaret Sellar and Jenny Ead in second place, both teams having 72 points.
Ladies Four Ball Bowmaker
The Ladies' four ball bowmaker Open attracted entries from far and wide. The first visiting team from Bristol and Clifton came in with 84 stableford points, hotly pursued by the home team of Club Captain Erica Klim, Jill Evans, Jill Bocquet and Sandra Ford with 83 points. Third overall were Tina Davies, Janice White, Sue Wells and Jenny Davis. Glynis Slater won nearest the pin for the Silver Division and Kitty Usher and Diane Ramsay scooped a two spot each.

The Ryder Cup at Wells
To celebrate the upcoming Ryder Cup, the professional shop has decided to run two competitions to get people in the spirit of golf's most competitive competition.
