Course Update
Cliff, Tom, Cameron and myself are now well into our hardest time of the year for planning our workloads, as the weather dominates all of our decisions. One of our key tasks is to cut back tons of lower tree limbs on our 120-acre site. It may look like we have been over zealous, but rest assured you will be cursing the thick regrowth again by mid-summer. Similar works are also planned to the trees and hedges along the miles of boundary fencing and walls. A major problem we wrestle with this time of year is the water borne disease that eats away at our greens known as fusarium. Aeration of the greens by hollow-tining and the use of chemical spray treatment is required, but spray treatment is rendered useless in wet weather. An expensive necessity. Maintenance of the greens is carried out in winter using pedestrian mowers to protect the surface… time consuming, but an effective solution. Meanwhile the badger damage continues to frustrate us all, taking up too much of our time, with setts established above the 14th green and at the mid-way corner around the 18th fairway. Legislation now severely restricts our options, but we continue to consider possible actions and solutions.
Plans for Week Commencing Monday, 6 Febraury
Weather permitting the green staff will be installing drainiage at the rear of the 10th green so the astro matt lying at the back of the green remains dry and tidy. The heavy rough has been cut back to allow for more even and fresh growth for when the growing season starts. In addition the shrubbery around the clubhouse and pro shop has all been cut back to maintain a tidy presentation of our club's facilities.

Ladies G Le Driver - £299.95
PING have released a new driver for ladies who crave distance and forgiveness off the tee. The G Le driver head is made lighter which means it's faster through impact and extremely forgiving. The same Dragonfly technology and Crown Turbulators help provide less drag and again increase distance.
The clubface is made slightly thinner to its previous model, allowing for the face to work with the ball maximizing ball speeds. Alterations to the club can be made with the helpful use of an adjustable head which means you can vary the loft either up or down by up to a degree. Its appealing head design and colour looks great at address and encourages you to strike the ball with confidence.
Glide Wedges - £130
New improvements have been made to this year's Glide wedges with two more grooves introduced to the higher lofted wedges (54 - 60) than the original Glide wedges. The lower lofted options (46 - 52) have been designed for full shots featuring one additional groove compared to last Glide model. What are the new features?
New precision milled grooves increase spin rates.
Higher lofted options (54 - 60 degree) engineered for finesse shots.
Soft 431 stainless steel heads with hydropearl chrome finish repels water.
One year guarantee and AWT 2.0 Wedge Shaft,
This wedge comes in four different sole widths. Thin (TS) is suited for a shallow attack angle and shallow divots, Standard (SS) fits moderate attack angles and divots, Wide (WS) is best for steep angles of attack and deep divots and Eye (ES) is versatile from all conditions, especially bunkers. This allows golfers to fit their wedges for typical divot depth and playing conditions. Golfers who are after a wedge to help them in bunkers, please choose the ES option. These wedges are complete with a PING DylaWedge grip and AWT 2.0 Wedge Shaft (118g).
