Charlie's Charity Golf Day
Wells Golf Club accommodated the second year of Charlie's Charity Event this year run by one of our young members, Charlie Lewis. A couple of summers ago at the age of 21, Charlie was diagnosed with stage four chronic kidney disease and this has left Charlie with 18% kidney function. The disease will always be a part of Charlie's life so Charlie and his brother Sam Lewis decided to make good of the situation by organising a Charity Day. The charity 'Kidneys for Life' raises money to help and support people suffering with a similar kidney condition.
The format was a three ball bowmaker with the entry fee of £75 a team including:
- 18 holes of golf.
- 10th hole refreshments.
- A choice of a meal from the specials board.
- Prizes for longest drive and nearest the pin.
The top top teams' scores received amazing prizes supplied by Callaway Golf! Congratulations to the three winning juniors; Tom Roberts, Ashton Wylie and Edward Higgs who scored an outstanding 92 points. The event was a huge success and Charlie is very grateful for everyone who supported his hard work organising the event. A big thanks to the players, sponsors, friends, family and everyone at Wells Golf Club.
Charlie is exremely happy to announce that the event managed to raise over £1,100 for Kidneys for Life! We look forward to seeing everyone again next year in this great event.
Members' Golf Trip 2018
After a successful golf trip in March with 18 members, we would like to start planning our next trip for March 2018. The golfing location will be different from the previous venues with possibilities of Spain or Portugal. I will be hoping to start arranging the trip in the next few weeks so therefore I would like to know who is interested.
