The Cyder Cup

The Cyder Cup competition was held at Wells and Farrington Park. In its eigth year this two day 4BBB event continues to attract a large field from neighbouring counties and even further from Hampshire, Cambridgeshire and across the waters from the Isle of Wight. High scores were achieved on day one at Farrington Park, but Wells seemed to be more challenging and tested the skills on day two.

The trophy was won by Wells members Mike Metcalfe and Rod Patch with 86 points. Metcalfe’s persistence has paid off and after seven years has found the perfect playing partner; one with previous form. Patch won it previously in 2013 with Martin Barnes.

Avalon League - Wells vs. Tall Pines

With the league very tight we had to make sure we won against Tall Pines in our final game of the season and hope that Worlebury can't better our result next week at home to Stockwood. We managed to do the minimum by beating Tall Pines 3 - 2. So now the nervous wait for next week's result at Worlebury to come in to decide the champions. Results were as follows:

Simon Jackson and Pete Walker won 3&2.
Jason Huck and James Church lost 1 down.
Mike Metcalfe and Malcolm Terry won 4&3.
James Rutt and Bob Lench lost 4&2.
Ian Burr and Pascal Norman won 4&3.

Wells Seniors vs. Mendip

Wells Seniors visited neighbours Mendip for their annual return fixture and suffered a narrow defeat by four games to three. This was revenge for Mendip who had lost 5 - 1 at Wells earlier in the season. Wells winners on the day were Nick Carter and Geoff Ead, Tim Harris and Brian Henderson (Brian's first match for the seniors) and Peter Leverick and Stuart Mann, the Club Captain.

Wells' Past Captains

Wells' Past Captains played the annual mtch versus Somerset Past Captains with a resounding win for Wells 6.5 - 1.5. George Davis, President said ‘It was a good match played in true friendly spirit.’

Tucknott Trophy Results

First place - M. Bailey and K. Mitchell - 42 points (£46.80 each), second place - J. Chillington and B. Williams - 42 points (£23.40 each) and in third place - A. Todd and S. Todd - 42 points (£11.70 each).

Twos - S. Porter and P. Ramsay, R. Padfield and D. Cunningham, R. Gould and W. Marcharm (x2), T. Clarke and J. Beasley, A. Marshall and S. Mann, J. Saint and B. Hegarty (x2). Team amount per two - £19.50.

Wells 4BBB Open

There are still some tee times available for this fantastic event running from 7:30am - 3:30pm (£15 for members or £24 for visitors).
