Avalon Report With a hard start to our Avalon campaign away at Weston, we were not expecting too much. With little wind and the course in excellent condition the Wells team thrived coming in with an excellent win 4 - 1. Our usual strong pairing of Simon Jackson and Pete Walker coming in winning 2&1; Mike Metcalfe and Malcolm Terry out next coming in with a superb win 6&5; the strong pairing of Ian Burr and George Davis came up against tough opponents losing 4&3; Bob Lench and Jason Huck dove-tailed well sharing three birdies winning 4&2. Last out and securing a great win for the team were Jamie Marklew and new member Danny Wyrwoll winning 2&1. |
Stragglers Report Mendip mizzell, birds singing and primroses out in full bloom; so was this a “Nature Walk”? No! It was the the Stragglers opening competition for 2018. Two teams of seven, led by Richard Mansfield and Craig McConnell played a competitive, but friendly yellow ball competition with Richard being the winning Captain. Scores were Craig’s team - 152 points with Richard’s team (after a lot of clubhouse adjustments) was 170. |

The trophy was presented by our own Bernhard Young (don’t ask why only six members of the winning team are in the photograph? Something to do with a wife) and with Terry Searle running the charity which was won by Jon Mackness; all in all it was a successful and very pleasant Sunday afternoon. |
Masters Sweepstake Results I hope everyone enjoyed watching the thrilling climax to the 2018 Masters Tournament. While some of our European hopes struggled to make much of an impression on the leaderboard Sunday afternoon, there were some amazing charges being made by both Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler both pushing Patrick Reed all the way. Despite a few nervy shots, Reed hung on to claim his first Major and a coveted Green Jacket. Thank you to everyone that took part in our sweepstake this year, the results are as follows: - 1st - Craig Mcconnell – Patrick Reed - £80.
- 2nd - Stuart Gowen – Rickie Fowler - £50.
- 3rd - Geoff Dyer – Jordan Speith - £30.
- 4th - John Blench – Jon Rahm - £20.
All prize money has been credited to the respective shop accounts.

Just how little will a Motocaddy S1 trolley cost you per month? As I am sure many of you are aware, we now offer 0% finance on all products over £300. This means that you don’t have to worry about spending huge amounts in one go for your golfing needs you can spread the cost over 12 months. It is surprising just how little you will pay per month. Take the Motocaddy S1 trolley with a lithium battery for example: our financing requires a minimum deposit of 10% (you can pay more if you wish – to lower the monthly payments) and the remaining balance is spread over 12 months with 0% interest. The S1 lithium costs £449 to buy. If you paid a deposit of £53 your monthly payments would only be £33 per month!
