Why 45 minute lessons are beneficial

Those of you who have had lessons in the past have probably experienced a 30-minute lesson, in the lesson your swing is analysed, a swing fault is recognised and then action is made to rectify the faults.

However, is 30 minutes enough time to really make progress?

The Teaching Professionals at Long Ashton Golf Club believe 45 minutes is the minimum time for a constructive golf lesson. Included within a lesson there is a structure we aim to follow:

- Start the lesson gathering feedback from the player creating aims and objectives (5 minutes)
- Choose a target to aim for, watch the player hitting balls and analyse the swing (10 minutes)
- Using video analysis, we can record the swing down the line and directly in front to show you how your swing looks. Then with the player we can reflect on the swing and slow down the swing in motion to break down certain areas to improve (5 minutes)
- Practice drills and training aids can then be used to aid the improvements (15 minutes)
- Using video analysis and observing the ball flight the coach can then compare the players modified motion to the video from the beginning of the lesson (5 minutes)
- The Professional then evaluates the lesson, gathers feedback during a debrief (5 minutes)
- Following on from the lesson the Professional sends notes to the player to aid them during their practice in-between lessons
