Putt perfectly Is your putter the right length? Length equally affects both distance control and direction of the putt. Having the correct putter length is very important with putting. Putters for men are mostly sold in 35” and 34” factory standard lengths and ladies putters are standard at 33”. For example, the average standard-length putter used on the PGA Tour is 33” to 33 ½” for men. Ladies will usually fit into 31” to 32 ½” lengths. When fitting putters, length should always be the first fitting consideration. |
|
Is your grip correct for your putting technique? Over the last five years thicker putter grips have become more popular, but how do they actually help you hole more putts? Well it’s all to do with making your hands less active and getting your shoulders working more in a pendulum motion. One of the key benefits is that your fingers don’t wrap all the way round a thick putter grip and so naturally relax more than when using a traditional grip. This means they are far less likely to manipulate the face angle as you make your stroke, leading to better accuracy. The grip size also has a huge benefit with golfers who struggle with putting yips. |
|
If you are unsure whether your putter grip is correct for you then speak to a member of the team who can advise you on what suits best. We have a wide selection of putter grips, styles, weights and lengths available to suit your needs. After all, it’s the most important club in the bag. |

New TaylorMade balls – what’s the difference? The new TaylorMade TP5 and TP5x balls continue the company’s technological heritage of using a five-layer construction to optimise launch, spin and speed specifically for the requirements of wood, iron and wedge in your bag.
So, what’s different in this years TP5 and TP5x ball?
|
The new TP5x has a firmer overall compression, moving from 90 to 97, while the softer TP5 will stay at 85. TaylorMade have made adjustments to the compression of the TP5 to keep the compression the same. In addition, the new TP5 and TP5x have improved scuff resistance, as well making the ball more durable. The TP5 launches lower on iron shots and has more spin coming into the greens on full and partial wedge swings. The TP5x produces generally higher launching iron shots, great for players who like to take on tight pins with their approach shots. So far in 2019 the new TaylorMade golf balls have been used three times to win Tour events. If you would like to experience how a TaylorMade premium golf ball feels, visit our Professional Shop to see what ball best suits you. TP5 and TP5x - ONLY £42 a dozen |

75 yards? Up-and-down for me... |
The majority of golfers know how far they hit their driver and irons with a full swing, but wedges require you to be a lot more accurate if you want to start shooting better scores. So, whilst it can be useful to know how far a full PW or LW goes, you'll benefit far more from dialling in your wedges so you can hit specific distances that you regularly find yourself with on the course. |
Give yourself options You'll notice that different swings with each wedge will result in yardages that overlap - see table above. This is important as it'll give you options when considering the conditions. For example, if you're facing a strong breeze, we'd suggest going up a club and utilising a shorter swing so the ball flies lower with less spin, helping it to penetrate through the wind. |
Dial in with Callaway We'd recommend having a wedge system of the same brand and model, so you remove any variables in feel and spin across wedges. One model that we love is Callaway’s Mack Daddy 4 wedge. Its new Groove-In-Groove technology provides brilliant control and spin no matter if you're playing from the rough or the fairway, whilst 21 loft-bounce combinations give us a fantastic array of options to pick from when finding you the perfect set-up to improve your wedge play. |
