Tip of the Week Putting
Tiger Woods Putting Drill: Toe & Heel Tee Gate Drill
This drill is designed to help you work on the path of your putting stroke and eliminate toe or heel strikes. It will help give you feedback on if you can return the putter head through the gate in a consistent manner. This drill is extremely simple yet very effective.
|
|
More three putts are caused by poor pace control, in order to get the pace control right we need to be striking the ball out of the middle of the putter face.
- Start with a five-foot putt, aligning your putter face square to the target - Place a tee peg in the ground close to the heel of the putter and another tee peg close to the toe of the putter - The aim of the drill is to make a normal stroke without touching the tee pegs - Once you can produce a consistent path with your stroke, starting the ball on your chosen line, and hitting it in the sweet spot, its then over to you and the line you have chosen for that particular putt
Give this drill a try or ask one of our professionals to help guide you through the process. Become a more consistent and better putter sooner rather than later.

The importance of Short Game
The large majority of golfers would prioritise ball striking over short game. If you were to ask a golf professional or tour professional, which is the most important, they would quickly respond by saying that almost 70% of your score would be from how good your short game is. 70%, that a massive amount! That number should help give golfers the motivation to work harder on their short game shots, Pitching, Chipping, Bunker play and Putting, than their long game. Just to put it in perspective, an average Tour player would hit 12 greens in regulation, that means they are missing six greens per round. If that golfer made no birdies and failed to get up and down for par on any hole, they missed the green in regulation they would likely shoot six over or more.
Golf is about limiting mistakes and giving yourself chances to save pars more often. If you want to get better and lower your scores, look to improve all aspects of your short game skills. At the end you will be extremely happy that you made the commitment.

Titleist Thursdays
Titleist Thursdays are running throughout the spring at Long Ashton Golf Club, it’s a great opportunity to trial clubs all things Titleist. Although we have a full fitting cart here at Long Ashton, on Titleist Thursdays there will be two full-time Titleist club fitters on-site, with a huge number of clubs available to try.
|
It’s also a great opportunity for you left handers to try clubs that may otherwise be more difficult to source. Whilst you are welcome to turn up on the day and try something, the fitters will prioritise those with an appointment, so booking is strongly recommended.
Thursday, 16 May at LAGC 1:00pm - 6:00pm
There are three slots left available at:
- 15:15pm - 16:30pm - 17:15pm
To book click here or let us know in the shop.

The hottest picks this summer |
Is it just us or has this year's clothing been the best we've had in-store for a few years now? Either way, there's no doubting that you'll be looking (and feeling) great on and off the course throughout the summer with some of these fantastic picks... |
| Sonoran polo | We had to include the Sonoran polo as one of our top picks this season and it's not hard to see why. Boasting a clean, fresh look, the crease-resistant fabric will ensure you are always kept in tip-top condition.
|
| Douglas polo | If a traditional look is more your style, then you can’t go wrong with PING's Douglas polo. This is the ideal top that is perfect for wear on and off the course, whilst offering the perfect fit thanks to its stretch properties.
|
| Fracture pullover | Our final pick is the pullover that really has the lot: Fracture. Both of the stunning colourways will ensure all eyes are on you, whilst its lightweight material drapes over you for complete comfort.
