Benross Demo Day Success
Last Wednesday (8th April), I held my Professional Shop Demo Day alongside one of the new brands on offer at Wells GC - Benross. The event meant that golfers could try out all the latest Benross equipment with expert advice on the driving range, along with two Flightscopes set up so players could see the results for themselves. There were also demo putters and wedges available on the putting green allowing players to try short game equipment to enhance their short game and reduce their scoring. The evening was well support and very successful, thanks to all the members and other players who supported the event.

Loft & Lie Check
If you haven't been custom fitted before and you feel your golf clubs aren't helping your performance, why not let us check your current loft and lie measurements!
Checking your lofts are correct will help to create an equal distance gap between each of your clubs. If you are hitting your 5 iron a lot further than your 6 iron then now is the time to bring your clubs into us!
Checking your lie angle is vital as an incorrect lie angle won't allow your golf ball to start on your target, for example if your current clubs are too upright the ball will start left of your target.
The professional shop has specialist equipment to adjust the clubs and this service only costs £15.

Masters Sweepstake
Congratulations to Grant Rogers who won our Masters sweepstake competition and picked up £175!
Grant was fortunate to have been drawn Jordan Spieth who won the Masters with a superb 18 under par total! PING Demo Kit

Putter Fitting
Our excellent range of putters in the professional shop means you can be fitted with the perfect putter. Each golfer has a different stroke type so finding the right model is important.
The arc of your putting stroke will depend on what type of putter type you would need, for example if your arc is pretty straight then you might see better results from a face balanced putter rather than a toe weighted putter. The weight, length and grip will also need to be considered when custom fitting so we find the correct putter for you.
We have a selection of putters in the shop including TaylorMade Counterbalance Putters, TaylorMade Ghost, Odyssey Superstoke, Odyssey White Hot, Benross Casino putters and the latest range from PING.

The driving range will be continuing to open late during the summer period on a Wednesday and Thursday night until 8pm. Please show your support to ensure this service can continue and please let others know who may not be aware of our great facilities at Wells GC.

Wednesday Evening Roll Up
The Wells GC Wednesday Roll Ups are starting again from tonight. The evening will include a 12 hole competition followed by a meal off the specials board in the clubhouse. The roll ups will be held from 4pm - 6.30pm every Wednesday costing £8, all you have to do is simply turn up. Please come along and show your support.
The Avalon team played there second game of the season against Tall Pines away, Sunday 12th April. Playing in unusual conditions for us with the ball rolling, bouncing and the wind blowing made for a difficult day. Not many of the team had ever or hardly ever played Tall Pines and we found ourselves on the end of a 3-2 loss.

Jason Huck / Malcolm Terry after been 6 down on 11 it was looking like a heavy defeat but managed to bring it back to a respectable loss of 3&2.
Richard Sheard / Mike Magrath with an excellent 2&1 Win.
John Baker / Mike McKay finding it tough with a 6&4 loss.
Ian Burr / Colin Mantle with the 2nd good win of 2&1.
We look forward to more familiar surroundings of a home game this Saturday against Cricket St Thomas.
