Club Championships - 6th - 7th June
Thompson and Kinsey win Club Championships!
The Club Championships were held last weekend with excellent weather and players eager to get their name on a trophy amongst other club champions. The green staff did an excellent job keeping the course in fantastic condition with the greens rolling true and quick. I was out amongst the action watching players on the course and it was great to so many great shots played in testing conditions.
Saturday was a windy day with testing pins set out by myself and James our head green keeper. Never the less players battled through the conditions to place themselves in contention for Sunday. Sunday turned out less windy and therefore the field could enjoy the well maintained course and take advantage of the calmer conditions.
Congratulations to the winner of the Men's Club Championship Will Thompson with a 149 gross which gave him a 3 shot win over the runner up Alan Todd (152 gross).
Congratulations also to the winner of the Ladies Club Championship, Julie Kinsey (163 gross) and well done to the Runner up Kim Lord (181 gross) followed by Glynis Slater in 3rd place.
The winner of the Hawksgill Trophy, the men's best nett over the 2 days was James Church with a steady 141 nett. Phil Lewison won the ladies best nett with Chris Gee taking the ladies best nett bronze prize.
Congratulations to all who participated in the two day event and thankfully we had a sunny, dry weekend if a little blowy on Saturday. I look forward to following the groups next year and seeing more members take part in this great competition.
Prize winner's monies has been put onto your accounts in the professional shop.
