Tweedale Medal Saturday 5th September

There was yet again another great turn out for the Tweedale Medal with everyone making the most of the weather and trying the win the last medal of the year! After mixed weather conditions over the past weeks it has shown a visible effect on the course with grass growing at a quicker pace and the ground slightly softer. However the greenkeepers kept the course in excellent condition despite the weather they had to battle against. Even though the course conditions were slightly less generous this didn't bother the competitors as there was some great scores posted!

Avalon - Long Sutton v Wells

The Avalon team knew what was needed away to Long Sutton in the last game of the season. To be promoted a 5 nil victory was needed to win the league. Unfortunately on the day the team came up short with too many players not at their best. However the team has done a great job over the season with most games close and at times unlucky not to pick up more points.

Wells Seniors V West Wilts

Wells Seniors played West Wilts at home with a return to normal summer conditions. The match started with a half from Colin Sellar and Mike Shave for Wells, who then took firm control with wins by Adrian Lawrence and Ron Hancock 7&6, and Peter Leverick and George White 3&2. Mike Stringer and Stuart Mann lost 4&3 before victories in the last two matches by Nick Carter and Peter Bartholomew 1up and Ken Ford and John Watson 5&4. Wells won the match 4½ - 1½.

Wells Seniors V Worelbury

Later in the week Wells Seniors entertained Worlebury. The Wells players were on fire and stormed to a comprehensive 6½ - ½ victory. Nick Wilson and Ken Stokes secured a half in a high quality encounter followed by wins for the remaining Wells pairings of Mike Gee and Allan Bancroft 1up, Gary Middleton and John Moxon 7&6, Peter Leverick and Ron Hancock 5&4, Mike Stringer and Peter Bartholomew 5&4, Bill O'Callaghan and Ken Ford 2&1 and finally Dave Hayward and Piers Dalby 8&6.

Range Opening Hours

After launching our late night driving range hours in January we have been successfully open on Wednesdays and Thursday evenings so you can squeeze in that late evening practice! The driving range will be continuing to open late on a Wednesday and Thursday night until 8pm. Hopefully we can keep providing this service as long as there is enough support to justify our opening hours.
