Summer Cup Results
This year all of the Wells' Men's Summer Cups were finished reasonably to time - with only occasional prodding from organiser David Gibbon. The SCRATCH CUP was won by Simon Lord and the Runner up was Alan Todd, whilst the BURNSIDE CUP was won by Baden Wilkinson with Pascal Norman the Runner up. Baden Wilkinson had a good summer, also winning the DICKINSON CUP with Mark Baggelaar Runner up. Neil Blake triumphed in the DYER CUP with John Slater Runner up. Well done to all the winners and those who took part, all of whom are no doubt looking forward to repeat or improve results next summer.
New SuperStroke 1.0 Grips
Many Tour players you see on the television use putter grips which have a slightly different shape or size. Players choose these grips so they can effectively distribute their grip pressure on the putter to relieve tension in the putting stroke. The 1.0 SuperStroke Grip has a smaller diameter than your typical larger SuperStroke and its unique shape makes it perfect to sit in the palm of your hands!

'Get the correct transition for straighter and more powerful driving'
Far too often I see many amateur golfers struggling with their driver because they get the transition wrong when trying to add power. Now I am not telling you to slow down and to reduce your power, after all if the statistics on tour are anything to go by golf has become a power game. The stats tell us that those with power prevail and can quite often be found at the top of the money lists.
What I mean by transition is how the downswing is started from the top of your backswing , many golfers incorrectly start their downswing by unwinding there upper body first, throwing the club out and away from them, losing a lot of resistance in the lower body causing power leaks. To ensure that you do not lose any of the power that has been stored during the back swing , you need to feel your downswing starts from the ground up , feeling first of all a small shift to the left and feel your hips start firing (rotating) towards the target before your upper body begins to move . This will not only utilise any resistance stored between your upper and lower body but it will also help to pull the club into a better, more efficient positon on the way down, resulting in more power and more accuracy with your driver.
Give that some practice and please let us know your results.
